Reading the Bible with Others

Use this simple method to study and discuss a Bible passage with a friend or in a small group.

1. Ask God to speak to you.
2. Read the passage out loud.
3. Draw these three icons along the left-hand side of a piece of paper.
Picture
 4. Take 5 or 10 minutes to silently reread the passage. Jot down things next to each icon:
- what jumped out to you from this passage? (light bulb)
- what you would like to ask the group about this passage? (question mark)
- how does this passage connect with your life? (arrow)
5. Together, discuss your observations. Ask your questions to the whole group (not just to the leader). Try together to find answers using only this passage. Unanswered questions are ok. Share how this passage relates to your life.
6. Pray about what you learned. You can pray alone, in pairs or as a group.
